The Western Energy Company, a coal generatedpower company located in Colstrip, Montana, was a subsidiary of Montana PowerCompany and the successor to the Northwestern Improvement Company. This collection (1918-1979) subject files including field books (1927-1951) and survey notes; a log book for Pit No. 6 (1940s-1950s); engineer and production reports; maps and blueprints; Colstrip Parks Project (1976-1977); Montana Power Company utility rates (1979); and blueprints of Rosebud Coal Field. Also included are exhibit maps, an expense ledger (1929-1938), and historical information of the Northwestern Improvement Company.
